The main screen contains most of the
controls to branch out to the other screens. The file menu can be
used (if not using the defaults) to load and save livestock files
which define the fat-weight relationships and any adjustment in
dressing%. For example with Friesian bulls use the Holstein Friesian
file, whereas for lambs where fatness is important it is more
important to check the fat-weight trends.
The drafting bounds are set using the
cursors but ensure the mean liveweight is set using the "column
graph" icon (or Edit>Mean liveweight …menu).
To proceed to the grade and payment
schedule a drafting method must be selected (and displayed). Once
the method is chosen (by clicking on the red or blue buttons on the
main screen) the "$ $" icon appears (or use the View>Schedule"
menu). Clicking on the "$ $" icon brings up the schedule where
grade/price file may be loaded or saved.
With the grade/price file loaded
(example files are provided in the C:Program Files\Livestock
Targets\Live Animal Evaluation folder) the carcass results are
produced (for printing out use File>Print) either using the
"Generate" button or "Weigh scale" button. When using the "Weigh
scale" button" sample data are provided in the Program Files
directory (see above). Using weigh scale data it is necessary to
ensure the file format is compatible with the check box settings in
the schedule screen. The examples are for the default "weight" and
the "tag, weight, code" formats
